Stabilizing the Gasholder is a Significant Challenge
To meet the challenges of stabilizing the Concord, NH Gasholder, we needed nationally recognized preservation professionals like John Wathne, Founder-Principal of Structures North Consulting Engineers, and Tom Evarts, Founder and President of Yankee Steeplejack Company. In this video, the two are on site documenting the Emergency Stabilization process. John shares what makes this project stand out among many he has engineered, including stabilizing the New Jersey State House and the clock faces on Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, while Tom describes the process of installing structural steel beams and heavy duty scaffolding to support the roof.
A 4-minute video by John Gfroerer for the N.H. Preservation Alliance and the Concord Historical Society.
In the next video, we go inside and on the roof of the Gasholder with nationally recognized preservation professionals Michael Bruss of Bruss Project Management, Frank Lemay of Milestone Engineering & Construction, and Tom Evarts of Yankee Steeplejack Company.
